Russia has confirmed the death of Major General Volodymyr Zavadsky during the war in Ukraine. He died after a mine exploded, it is reported Ukrainian Pravdaciting a Russian news site.

The organization of graduates of the Moscow military school was the first to announce the death of Zavadsky on the VKontakte social network. The message states that Zavadskyi died on November 28, Ukrainian Pravda reports.

The major general was the deputy commander of the 14th corps of the army of the Russian Federation.

Zavadsky was allegedly blown up by a mine behind the front line. The investigation into his death is based on the theory that he set off a mine that was planted by a nearby Russian unit to counter Ukrainian intelligence and sabotage groups. At the same time, they are trying to blame the death of Zavadsky on an artillery strike by the Ukrainian armed forces.

According to IStories, this is the 12th report of the death of a senior officer of the Russian armed forces in Ukraine. Russia confirmed the death of only seven of them, including Zavadsky.

Ukrainian Pravda says that the highest-ranking officer of the Russian Armed Forces to be killed in the war in Ukraine is Lieutenant General Oleg Tsokov, deputy commander of Russia’s Southern Military District. He was killed in the summer in Berdyansk.
