The Swiss Football Federation (SFV) has confirmed Murat Yakin as the national team selector for the final tournament of EURO 2024, despite the results obtained in Group I of the previous tournament (which also included Romania) which were below expectations.

Murat Yakin will coach the Swiss national team at EURO 2024

Switzerland, considered heavy favorites to win Group I, finished 2nd (17 points – four wins, five draws and one loss), five points behind Romania.

Yakin qualified Switzerland for the 2022 World Cup and EURO 2024, but has been criticized recently for the team’s poor performances. However, SFV is not giving up on the 49-year-old coach yet and he will sit on the bench for the final tournament in Germany (June 14 – July 14, 2024).

“Despite the fact that in the last matches of the previous tournament we played four draws and only one defeat, Murat Yakin has full confidence. He has our support in every way to participate in the EURO in Germany with the best team and personnel.” – Dominique Blanc, President of SFV.
