The initiative belongs to the Embassy of the United States of America in Bucharest in partnership with the Romanian government with the support of the National Council of Rectors (CNR), writes Agerpres.

The US Visa Facilitation Program is a priority visa interview service available to both faculty members of higher education institutions and their family members, including spouses and children. This important benefit can be used both by people who are already planning to travel to the United States of America, and by those who do not yet have specific plans to travel to the United States, but may need a visa in the future. The program can also be accessed to renew an existing visa,” the CNR press release states.

Some of the eligibility criteria for the US Visa Facilitation program:

  • the applicant must have Romanian citizenship and be a teacher at a higher education institution in Romania;
  • has not been denied entry to the United States in the past;
  • the teachers applying for the visa and the spouse must have no tax or criminal record.

The program is run by the Romanian-American University, and applicants can request information if they have problems registering at [email protected].

The “US Visa Facilitation Program” is valid until October 1, 2024 and is part of a project that is carried out at the national level and is aimed at joining Romania to the US Visa Waiver Program (VWP Visa Waiver Program), CNR representatives say.
