Romania, good mood before the World Cup – Success with Austria in the final of the Carpathian Trophy

Romania won the Carpathian Trophy by defeating Austria in the final, another team that will also play at the European Championships in Denmark, Sweden and Norway.

The Florentine Pera-coached Tricolors played another good match without Cristina Nyagu on the field and won 41-35.

Romania’s top scorer was Elisa Buceski with 9 goals, followed by Laszlo with 6 and Crina Pintja with 5.

The big goal of our girls at the final world tournament is to get into the top 8 places: they would get the right to participate in pre-Olympic tournaments, and going to the Olympics in Paris in 2024 is the big dream of our camp.

  • At the World Handball Championship, Romania is in Group E along with Denmark, Serbia and Chile.

The first three places qualify for the main competition group.

Know:

  • Romania is the only country in the world to have participated in all editions of the World Cup, and in 2023 it will be held for the 26th time.
  • The World Cup will be held for the first time in three countries, Denmark, Sweden and Norway, from November 29 to December 17, with 32 national teams at the start.
  • In Europe, 16 places are allocated for the World Cup, and six of them were taken directly by the teams of the host countries. They were joined by Montenegro, France and the Netherlands according to the EC 2022 rating.
