
Hollywood talent agency UTA has dropped its client Oscar-winning actress Susan Sarandon after she spoke at a pro-Palestinian rally over the weekend, a spokesperson for the agency confirmed to Deadline, News.ro reports.
The Guardian notes that the 77-year-old actress has attended several rallies in support of Palestine and drawn criticism for saying that “there are a lot of people who are afraid to be Jewish right now and who have the opportunity to experience what it’s like to be a Muslim in this country.”
In remarks captured on video, Sarandon urged others to continue speaking out in support of the Palestinians in the war between Israel and Hamas.
“People are asking questions, people are standing up, people are getting an education, people are moving away from the brainwashing that started when they were children,” Sarandon said at the rally. She urged those present to “be strong, be patient, be clear.” and to stand by everyone who has the courage to speak,” and thanked the “Jewish community that came to support us.”
Sarandon then posted a pro-Palestinian message by Pink Floyd’s Roger Waters on the “X” network, formerly known as Twitter.
Waters has come under fire over the years for allegedly making anti-Semitic remarks, although he has always denied these claims, previously saying:
“I have spent my entire life speaking out against authoritarianism and oppression wherever I see it. When I was a child, after the war, Anne Frank’s name was often mentioned in our home, a constant reminder of what happens when fascism is left unchecked. My parents fought against the Nazis in World War II and my father paid the ultimate price.”

Once one of Hollywood’s most popular actresses, Sarandon’s career has taken a nosedive over the past decade as she decided to devote herself to activist causes.
During her career, she was nominated 5 times for the “Oscar” award for the best female role in the main role. She won her fifth nomination for the 1995 drama The Walking Dead, in which she co-starred with Sean Penn.
She also won a BAFTA Award and a Screen Actors Guild Award.
