After an eight-year break, Romania will again be at the European Football Championship. The victory over Switzerland (1:0 score) secured the “tricolor” victory in the group in the previous matches, as well as the presence in the second prize fund at the draw on December 2.

>> Edi Iordenescu spoke about the selector’s only merit after the selection of Romania for Euro-2024

Present at the match at the National Arena (he was sitting in the box with Mircea Lucescu), Gike Hagi concluded after the qualifiers were over and Romania qualified for Euro 2024.

“It doesn’t get any better than that. Let’s finish undefeated and with a win at home. In the match in Hungary, the pressure was greater. Now this was a match he had to do well. We are all happy, every Romanian was waiting for this qualification.

We go there to support them, it’s a very good group there. Eddie made the format, that’s his credit.

My congratulations, keep it up. From now on, a big challenge arises.

Everything that happened in America was to make room for the next generation to come and precede us. This is probably their biggest ambition – to surpass our results.

Let’s hope that he will pass the group and go further at the Euro. But even if it doesn’t happen, they will gain experience and become better players,” – Hika Hagiquoted by News.ro.

Romania completed the first qualifying group for Euro 2024 with a 1-0 win over Switzerland at the National Arena. Edi Iordenescu’s band will be second in the voting during the December 2nd draw.

Hell of a group for Euro 2024 with France, Holland and Italy

The most difficult group option that the tricolors could have after the draw would actually be going back in time: that is, the opponents we also faced at Euro 2008: France, Netherlands and Italy.

At the opposite pole, we could be drawn in a slightly more accessible group with opponents such as Slovakia and one of the winners of the play-offs in route C (Georgia, Luxembourg, Greece or Kazakhstan).

In summary, an easier group might look like this: Belgium, Slovakia, Luxembourg.
