President Volodymyr Zelensky met Fox Corp CEO Lachlan Murdoch in the Ukrainian capital in what Kyiv said on Monday was a “very important signal” of support as world media attention shifted from the war in Ukraine, Reuters reported.
The eldest son of media mogul Rupert Murdoch is a major media figure with a Republican audience. His visit comes amid growing concern in Ukraine about the future of vital US military and economic aid, while no end to the war with Russia is in sight.
The US presidential election next November could return Republican Donald Trump to power after he sharply criticized his support for Ukraine. Disagreement is growing in the US Congress regarding aid to Kyiv.

“The head of state (Zelensky) thanked Lachlan Murdoch for his visit and emphasized that this is a very important signal of support at a time when the world’s attention is overshadowed by other events,” the website of the president’s office says.

His remarks appear to be an allusion to Israel’s war in Gaza, which has dominated international media coverage for more than a month and has largely diverted world media attention from the war in Ukraine, which this week is approaching its 21st month.
Zelensky noted that it is important to keep the world’s attention on the war in Ukraine.
“For us, for our soldiers, this is not a movie. This is our life. It’s hard work every day. And it will not end as quickly as we would like, but we have no right to give up and we will not. Zelensky stated this in his office.
Zelensky noted that Fox News journalist Benjamin Hall, who was seriously injured while covering the war in Ukraine last year, and The Sun journalist Jerome Starkey were also invited to the meeting with Murdoch.
Hall was part of a group of Fox News journalists who came under fire from Russian forces in the spring of 2022. Cameraman Pierre Zakzhevsky and Ukrainian Oleksandra Kuvshynova died.
