About 3,000 trucks, most of them Ukrainian, are stuck on the Polish side of the border due to a protest action by Polish truck drivers, which has been going on for more than ten days, Ukrainian authorities said, according to Reuters.

Earlier this month, Polish truckers blocked roads to three checkpoints on the border with Ukraine to protest what they see as their government’s inaction in losing business opportunities to foreign competitors.

Last week, Ukrainian officials said that Kyiv and Warsaw had again failed to reach an agreement on ending the protest.

“Ukrainian drivers have been standing at the border with Poland for more than 10 days. “Thousands of people are forced to live in difficult conditions, with limited food, water and fuel,” said the Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine Oleksandr Kubrakov.

According to him, the fire is blocked at a distance of more than 30 kilometers to the checkpoint “Yagodin”, more than 10 kilometers to Rava-Ruska and more than 16 kilometers to the checkpoint “Krakowec”.

According to the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine, an average of 40,000-50,000 trucks cross the border with Poland every month through the eight existing checkpoints, which is twice as much as before the war.

Most of the cargo is transported by the fleet of Ukraine.

Currently, only a few vehicles per hour cross the Polish border at blocked checkpoints, Ukrainian border guards say.
