Mihai Stojcice respects Daniel Boloka’s decision, but does not refuse him to play for Romania

Born in Italy to Romanian parents, Daniel Boloka was one of Frosinone’s most important players last season and Sassuolo paid €6m for him.

A dual national, Boloka has announced that he will no longer be coming to the national team coached by Edi Iordenescu and has already taken part in a trial with Italy.

The midfielder told the Peninsula press how he feels among the tricolors and why he decided not to accept challenges.

The reaction of the Football Federation of Romania did not take long.

On Wednesday, the technical director of the FRF Mihai Stoykice reacted to the statements of the Sassuolo footballer.

“I think that what Boloka said, he confirmed what I have said several times. They were born there, maybe they don’t know Romanian anymore.

At least he had the courage to say that he no longer felt Romanian. He lived there and became attached to why he was there, unlike his parents, who remained Romanians at heart. I do not comment on his statements because he feels, not me.

Each person is free to choose the path he wants. It is up to us to understand these situations and be flexible. Of course, if he can’t play for Italy, the door remains open.” Mihai Stoykice said, Digi Sport reports.
