The Bucharest Municipality Police Headquarters – Public Transport Police Brigade was informed by phone on Sunday by a Metrorex dispatcher that a person had jumped onto the subway track at the metro station while he was entering the station, writes News.ro. First information indicated that the incident occurred at a station in Sector 3, later Metrorex announced that it was the Tineretului station.

Update (21:50): The incident happened at Tineretului metro station. Metro trains are running in a pendulum system between Piaţa Unirii 2 and Constantin Brâncoveanu stations, Metrorex reported on Sunday evening, Agerpres reported.

“At the Tineretului metro station, in the direction of Heroes of the Revolution, a passenger fell onto the road, a possible suicide attempt. At the moment, train traffic between Piaţa Unirii 2 and Constantin Brâncoveanu stations has been reorganized into a pendulum system,” the company said in a statement.

Original news: The police officers who went to the scene found that the reports were confirmed, because it was about a 24-year-old man, the press release of the capital police also said.

An emergency medical team also arrived at the scene, pulled the person from the roadway and provided first aid.

The investigation is being continued by the police brigade for public transport – the Metro Police Service to establish the reasons and conditions under which the event occurred, the cited source also indicates.
