Labor and Social Solidarity Minister Simona Bucura-Oprescu said on Saturday that more than three million Romanians will have higher pensions next year, but explained that thanks to the increase in the pension score, every Romanian will have a better pension in 2024. According to her, every Romanian who has worked for more than 25 years will receive an additional point for each year of work, so that between 25 and 30 years of work the score is 0.5 points per year, between 30 and 35 years – 0.75 points per year . year, and after 35 years – one point per year, reports News.ro.
- “I can tell you that more than three million Romanians, based on our modeling, will have higher pensions. (…) It is important for all Romanians to know that in 2024 they will have higher pensions thanks to two processes. In any case, every Romanian, thanks to the increase from January 1, every Romanian, thanks to the fact that the value of the pension point increases, every Romanian in 2024 will have a better pension,” explained Simona Bucura-Oprescu, answering questions from CNN. Antenna 3 how many pensioners will not have their pensions increased, according to the new formula.
She explained that for equal contributions and equal work, there will be equal pensions.
- “When recalculating, it is very important to explain the two elements that we have, contribution and stability. That is, for equal contributions and equal work, we will have equal pensions, because with this new pension law we are actually trying to correct three categories of injustice. On the one hand, inequality between pensioners who worked the same way but retired in different years, inequality between ladies and gentlemen and, no less important, inequality between pensioners who received minimal social assistance,” said Simona Bucura-Oprescu. .
What additional points each will receive depending on the years of work
- “It is very important to say that in our simulations, in a situation where we had a pensioner with minimal social assistance, who received 1,125 lei today, from next year for 35 years of work experience, the increase will be 87%, more than 1,900 lei. It is very important to know because of the stability points, because for a Romanian who has worked for more than 25 years, an additional point will be obtained for each year of work. From 25 to 30 years – 0.5 points per year, from 30 to 35 years – 0.75 points per year and after 35 years – one point per year. In other words, if you work, you get,” said Simona Bucura-Oprescu.
She was asked what the maximum amount a pensioner can receive and whether it depends on their score.
- “It depends on what account he has. Calculation starting from the contribution points, that is, the points on which the right to a pension was established and on which the amount paid by this pensioner was calculated. So the contribution points, among them, will increase, because if the global agreement before 2001 was not taken into account, then according to the new law, non-permanent increases will be taken into account in the contribution points. That is, if the Romanian had a global agreement, a thirteenth salary, other non-permanent promotions, bonuses, all this (…) All these incomes are proportionally taken from the contribution method and will be converted into contribution pension points, which will be used at the minimum contribution period and the full contribution period, and in the case of the faculty, unemployment, and the army, the periods are equated, which, in turn, will give an additional point, but will not be taken into account in the minimum length of contributions,” explained the Minister of Labor.
Equalization of the retirement age of men and women
Simona Bucura-Oprescu also said that by 2035 we must achieve equalization of the retirement age of women and men at 65 and clarified that this is a milestone in the PNRR.
- “Attention, when calculating the pension, only seniority affects the reduction of the retirement age. (…) If today the retirement age for women is 62 years and one month, and by 2030 we will gradually increase it to 63 years, then according to the new law, by 2035 we will have to equalize the retirement age of women and men. at 65 years old. In other words, if our woman retires in 2035 and has two children, she can retire in 2034 a year earlier,” said Simona Bucura-Oprescu.
She explained that equalization of the retirement age between women and men is imposed by the PNRR.
- “The equalization of the retirement age between women and men is part of the reform imposed by the commitments that Romania undertook through the PNRR. This is one of the reforms adopted by Romania in stage 214 regarding the reform of public pensions. This is an obligation that was taken by Romania, the Romanian state, not the government of which I am a part, we had to transfer to the Romanian legislation, for which we came up with this compensation, with the fact that the promotion period is a child, maternity leave and childbirth is a period of payment of contributions and, no less important, the fact that we give this reduction of the retirement age for women who have and raise children,” the minister explained.
