Criminal complaint – for public appeals and incitement to violence, hatred and discrimination.

The Roma Party also filed complaints with the National Anti-Discrimination Council, the Romanian Football Federation and the Professional Football League.

“The leadership of the Pro-European Roma Party Association (APRPE) submitted yesterday a criminal case to the public prosecutor’s office against Peluza Nord fans from the FCSB, who displayed deeply racist messages during the derby with the team “Rapid” (Die, gypsies! , Not integrated into society, remain a minority, Death to the Gypsies!), because of which they offended the Roma minority in Romania. The criminal complaint concerns public incitement and incitement to violence, hatred and discrimination,” the group announced on Friday, as quoted by News.ro.

“Such extremely racist messages addressed to the Roma minority in Romania must be urgently sanctioned by the state authorities, as they are subject to the Criminal Code and the Law against Gypsies. Such manifestations constitute a serious public danger, as they incite the population to violence, hatred and discrimination.

The impact of messages inciting racial hatred has reached a peak of extremism. We ask the authorities to urgently identify the culprits and bring them to justice,” said Ionuts Paun, president of the APRPE Youth Organization.

APRPE officials say they have filed a complaint with the National Anti-Discrimination Council, the Romanian Football Federation and the Professional Football League.

“This racist incident happened on the day that the Pro-European Association of the Roma Party organized in Bucharest the Congress of Representatives of the Roma Communities of Romania, the largest ever gathering of Roma, attended by more than 4,200 Roma.

Therefore, we believe that the moment was not chosen by chance. I wonder what would have happened if Roma had taken these insults from FCSB supporters seriously. Imagine how this situation could escalate.

The perpetuation of these images in stadiums only increases the hatred of the majority of the population towards the Roma. I hope that the authorities will take urgent measures,” Ionuts Paun added.

The announcement comes just days after the Rapid also announced that they had filed criminal charges against FCSB fans.

Rapid won 2-1 in the derby with FCSB on November 5 and the match was littered with many boos and pyrotechnics illegally used by the two galleries in the stands.
