Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu and Foreign Minister Luminica Odobescu returned to the country tonight along with a group of Romanian nationals and their family members, a total of 93 people evacuated from the Gaza Strip following the government’s diplomatic efforts. .

On board the plane were also 36 citizens of the Republic of Moldova, who were also evacuated from the Gaza Strip, and to whom the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Romania is providing support for the purpose of repatriation to the Republic of Moldova.

People on the plane will be assessed by a panel consisting of a general practitioner, a psychologist and a psychiatrist.

Among the evacuees are a pregnant woman, who is considered to be the zero queue, and a person with cancer.

There was also a doctor on the plane.

“I think that both I and the minister made a gesture of normality today and sent a very clear signal that the state does not leave any Romanian behind. Today, 129 Romanians were removed, both Romanians with Romanian citizenship in Romania and Romanians from the Republic of Moldova. The next plane will land in an hour, I think. As you know, there is already a list of 51 Romanians. There were more than 100 requests to come to Romania with their families in the next period,” said Prime Minister Čolaku.

The crisis cell in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will continue to function until we return the last Romanian from the Gaza Strip who wants to come to Romania or the Republic of Moldova.

“There are significantly more Romanian citizens with dual citizenship in the Gaza Strip. We are talking about Romanians with dual citizenship who submit documents to come to Romania. What we have done is part of the action. From now on, the Department of Emergency Situations is taking over all Romanians evacuated from the Gaza Strip. We have families from Timisoara, Iași, Dolj, Olt, Suceava, Bacău, and each family has its own story. Many children were happy to go home to their grandparents,” added the Prime Minister.

He informs that this is an action that will continue in the coming days until they reach their families, but there are many who no longer have direct families in Romania, and tomorrow at the government meeting we will speak with the Minister of Labor regarding a regulation dedicated to this situation , since we are talking about people from the war zone.”

The first group of Romanians and their family members, consisting of 93 people, was evacuated from Gaza to Egypt on Tuesday.

On Wednesday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that another 51 Romanians were allowed to leave the Gaza Strip through the Rafah checkpoint. But since this point was closed, they will leave Gaza later.

During Tuesday, the President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, announced that 36 citizens of Moldova were evacuated from the Gaza Strip, and they will be transported from Cairo to Bucharest. Later, they will be picked up by a bus provided by the Moldovan authorities.
