
The United States does not support any re-occupation of the Gaza Strip by Israel, its State Department said, according to Sky News.
Spokesman Vedant Patel also said Washington does not support any forced resettlement of Palestinians outside the territory.
Speaking at a daily news conference, Patel said Washington had not sought or considered it.
It came after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told ABC that Israel would bear overall responsibility for Gaza’s security “for an indefinite period.”
That evening, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant said that Israel would not rule Gaza after the war, and neither would Hamas.
