After the government agreed to cap cash payments in the new fiscal measures resolution, the Liberals challenged it through a vote by Nikoae Chuke. PSD President Marcel Cholaku responded that the Minister of Finance supported the proposal that would come from ANAF and he did not hear a single voice against it in the coalition.

PNL President Nicolae Chuke claims that “he did not agree in the Coalition with the restriction of cash payments from the very beginning” because he knew the ATM infrastructure in the country. Chuke said on Monday that the limit on cash payments must be reviewed as soon as possible.

“At the moment, the banks should come and support the Romanian economy,” the PNL leader said, adding that the cash restriction measure must be reviewed as soon as possible, as he does not believe that the ordinary citizen is the one facilitating this tax evasion. Nikolay Chuke.

The PNL president claims that the decision in the coalition was not made unilaterally. “It was a decision that we discussed, and we all understood at the time that it was a decision made that practically helps reduce tax evasion. Or I don’t think that an ordinary citizen is the one who contributes to this evasion,” he emphasized.

In response, Prime Minister Marcel Cholaku claims that the Minister of Finance came and said that the ANAF technical group came with these proposals, and at that time the coalition did not hear a single voice.

Cholaku also showed that his priority is the fight against tax evasion, and clarified that it is not about refusal, but about not being affected. “I don’t know if changing the ceilings is the best solution. This is the problem of small entrepreneurs,” he said, announcing that he would meet with banks and small and medium-sized businesses.

“It’s not about giving up, it’s about not influencing the world. I don’t know if the best solution is to change the ceiling. For small entrepreneurs, this is a problem, and there with cash payments in order not to make endless queues at the bank, I think no one wants that. so I also want to talk to SMEs. And I think that with regard to product groups, household appliances, things needed in everyday life, let’s not complicate people’s lives,” said Çolaku.

The head of the executive branch clarified that “these measures were proposed by the ANAF technical group.”

“I, the prime minister, would be ashamed to speak out and criticize the proposals of some ANAF experts, it was not a political proposal. In addition, the Minister of Finance came and, as it usually happens, we have the biggest tax evasion in Europe, we talk about it, but we do not want to take any action. The Minister of Finance came and said that the ANAF technical group had come up with these proposals. At that moment, I did not hear a single voice in the coalition,” said Cholaku.

After the meeting of the party leadership, the Prime Minister said that today he will hold a meeting with banks, then with small and medium-sized businesses regarding the limitation of cash payments.
