AUR leader George Simion commented on the USR scandal on Sunday after Mayor Elena Lasconi’s statement that she voted for the traditional family in the 2018 referendum. “Are we shooting Elena Lasconi because she supports a traditional family? Hypocrisy will NOT save Romania!” – says Simion, showing that “for the users, supporting the traditional family formed by a woman and a man, as the good God left us in the world, is not something normal”.

“UDR does what it does and stands out again. Now with this scandal surrounding Elena Lasconi. If they are a political failure, then all of them, those from the USR, want to come to the fore as much as they can. And they apologize, they blame themselves, they have little left, and they burn Elena Lasconi at the stake. At the same time, Romanians risk, for example, not being able to use the collected cash, possibly for the rest of their lives. As if there are no other problems to solve in Romania, users argue among themselves about who is marrying whom,” writes George Simion.

He notes that “it all started with the statements of Elena Lasconi, the mayor of USR Kampulung-Mussel, who opened the list of candidates for the 2024 European Parliament elections.”

“I say opening because I understand that he remains mayor only after Drula asked him to withdraw from the campaign in the European Parliament. She said during Prima TV’s Political Insider show that she voted yes in the October 2018 referendum to amend the Constitution to define family as a marriage between a man and a woman. The AUR leader continues: “instead of focusing on other expired names that open the list, such as Dan Barna, Vlad Voiculescu or Vlad Botos, because I can list dozens of reasons why they should not represent Romania in the European Parliament, or failures in the position of mayor Elena Lasconi of Kampulung Musel, which are also scattered on many pages, users found something to complain about.

“They must have run out of seats, and they’re afraid they won’t get to the right seats,” says Simion.
