“I am shocked and absolutely disgusted to learn that my mother voted YES in the Family Coalition referendum in support of the so-called traditional family. I cannot describe the pain I feel not only as her daughter. (…)

I can’t believe that the person I supported in his political career turned out to be a homophobe. I would never have expected that. (…)

The soul hurts. I do not support such a person in the European Parliament or presidential elections, although I know that he is the favorite of many. (…)

Elena Lasconi, head of the USR list in the European Parliament elections, said that she voted “YES” in the referendum on the traditional family in 2018. “I am a Christian, I am Orthodox and I believe that a family consists of a woman and a man,” she told Lasconi on Prima TV.

She was criticized both by former colleagues who now work at REPER, and by her former colleague Clotilde Armand.

“Your job as a mayor is not to specify who should marry whom, how the state should intervene in families. If you do not understand this, it means that you do not have the right to hold any public office,” said Clotilde Armand.
