If you read the Auto-Plus columns regularly, you’ve probably heard of recall campaigns. But what is it really about? In fact, the principle is quite simple. Sometimes it happens that the problem appears on the car already after it has been sold, and this applies to a whole series of cars. Then it is a design care related to the manufacturer, so it needs to be fixed quickly, as it can pose a danger to drivers or even road users. Or simply because it can cause lasting damage to the car in question. And no manufacturer is spared from this problem.

A late problem

Of course, this applies to generic brands, but also to high-end manufacturers, who can also face some disappointments. We think, for example, of Ferrari, which had problems with the brake fluid reservoir, and also of Porsche. In fact, the manufacturer has just organized a new recall campaign, which is unusual, to say the least. Indeed, the latter applies to an unusual model, since it is a Carrera GT, although it was released 20 years ago. But then what is the problem with a legendary supercar equipped with a 5.7-liter V10? Well, it’s about risk chassis corrosion, which do not meet specifications.

A big reminder

Thus, the manufacturer realized that the materials used could be particularly susceptible to rust. This can impair the vehicle’s handling if corrosion begins. Therefore, the Porsche company decided to recall only 1270 copies products to solve the problem. Of course, the brand will be responsible for the operation, and the owners will not have to pay anything. It remains to be seen how long this operation will last, while the manufacturer has not yet informed the general public.
