Pere Riba is no longer the coach of the American Coco Gauf

The American made a great debut at the 2023 Tournament of Champions (6-0, 6-1 against Ons Jabert), but this victory was accompanied by an unexpected announcement: Coco announced that she would no longer train Pere Rib (Cooperation began in Junein Eastbourne).

The Spanish coach was with Gauff at the most important tournaments she won: Washington (WTA 500), Cincinnati (WTA 1000) and US Open (Big helmet).

During this time, Coco was also mentored by Brad Gilbert, who could become the 19-year-old’s regular coach.

“Unfortunately, it was not my decision, but we had to end our partnership. I had a great time with him and wish him all the best for the future. If it were up to me, I’d like it to stay here.

But such things happen. Some things didn’t work. That’s it, I still think he’s a cool guy. It has done huge things for me personally as well as my game. I am sure that he will succeed in the next project” – Coco Gauf.

Gauff is ranked 3rd in the WTA singles ranking and 1st in doubles. She plays in both events at the Tournament of Champions (doubles with Jessica Pegula).
