Like all its Japanese competitors, Suzuki is there this year on Show Tokyo 2023to present their latest innovations at their stand with numerous models: concept cars, motorcycle concepts, cars, scooters, motorized personal vehicles, outboards and more.

Among the main new functions we will find Suzuki Swift conceptwhich takes its first steps in public at the Tokyo Motor Show: it heralds the production version of the next generation of the Japanese city car, which should include most of its characteristics.

Suzuki Swift concept: style that evolves smoothly

First of all, fans of the brand will be relieved to know that Suzuki has not entered into a partnership with Toyota for this model: unlike the Suzuki Swace and Across, which are rebadged Toyota Corolla and Rav4, the future Swift won’t be based on the Yaris, but it’s truly Suzuki’s own creation to offer us here.

Very close to the production version expected next year, this concept car shows that the style of the upcoming fourth-generation Swift will evolve very smoothly: in fact, we will find a strong family resemblance to the current opus, however more modern lines, clumsy and assertive. The roof is completely painted in black, which contrasts with the blue color of the car, offering a two-tone livery, more modern.

The evolution, however, is more impressive on board: the passenger compartment has been completely redesigned, with a presentation that looks much more attractive than today. Get out of the round aerators, the dashboard is more modern, and stands out with a large floating screen in the center. The instrument cluster still has the arrow meters, but with a more attractive design and a digital display in the center. The steering wheel seems to take the form of the current generation, while the climate control is more modern, even if it stays true to the classic buttons.

Hybrid engines under the hood

Suzuki didn’t officially reveal much at the show: however, we do know that it will be equipped with a lot advanced security technologiessuch as braking to mitigate a collision Dual Sensor Brake Support IIadaptive high beam Adaptive high beam systemand Driver monitoring system.

On the concept, we also see a “Hybrid” badge on the trunk lid, confirming Suzuki’s announcement of hybrid engine high efficiency which “offers the perfect balance between performance and efficiency”.

The next generation Suzuki Swift will be sold in spring 2024. In the coming months, we should learn more about the production version of the upcoming Japanese city car.
