Simona Halep (32 years old) received a 4-year disqualification from the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) in connection with doping Roxadustat and violations of the biological passport.

Simona Halep did not give up and challenged the ITIA decision at the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne (TAS).

“The Court of Arbitration for Sport (TAS-CAS) has registered an appeal filed by Romanian tennis player Simona Halep against the decision made by the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) on September 22, in which she was found guilty of violating anti-doping rules and imposed sanctions of a period of disqualification for four years starting on October 7, 2022, and with disqualification for results obtained between August 29, 2022 and October 7, 2022, including forfeiture of any medals, titles, points and prize money.

CAS arbitration proceedings have been initiated. In accordance with the Code of Arbitration for Sport (TAS-CAS Code), the parties exchange documents submitted in writing and the panel of arbitrators will decide the merits of the case.”
