The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) declined to comment on RBC Ukraine’s commentary on Monday’s Washington Post article linking Ukrainian special services to the killing of high-ranking Russian military and pro-war figures.

“We do not comment on the information received by the mass media from their sources,” the press service of the SBU reported.

The SBU added that the details of its special operation will be discussed only after Ukraine’s victory over Russia, Kyiv Independent quotes.

Earlier on Monday, the Washington Post reported, citing confidential sources, that the SBU and Ukraine’s HUR military intelligence service were responsible for dozens of assassinations of Russian targets since February 2022.

Ukrainian agencies are allegedly behind the murder of Russian naval officer Stanislav Rytskyi in Krasnodar and military blogger Vladlen Tatarskyi in St. Petersburg.

The SBU is also allegedly responsible for the car bombing that killed Russian propagandist Daria Dugin, while her father, the ultranationalist Oleksandr Dugin, was the intended target, the Post reported.

The car of Daria Dugina (29 years old) exploded after the bomb planted under the car was activated remotely. According to anonymous sources cited by the Washington Post, the bomb came from Ukraine and crossed the border a month earlier, hidden in a cat carrier by a woman accompanied by her 12-year-old daughter.

The Americans helped

The Ukrainian special services that conduct similar operations – the SBU and the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine (GUR) – have been trained, equipped and consulted by the CIA for years, the Washington Post reports.

American intelligence provided the means of communication and electronic espionage, false uniforms of pro-Russian separatists, and even participated in the construction of the offices of the GUR, the aforementioned publication reports.

But this extremely broad assistance of the CIA to Ukraine was accompanied by the distrust of the American side to the very bold operations of the Ukrainian services, such as against the strategic bridge connecting the Russian-occupied Crimea, sources told the Washington Post. .

“All the targets that the SBU hit are absolutely legal,” SBU head Vasyl Malyuk told the Washington Post, without mentioning any specific case.

At the same time, he added that Ukraine “does everything to ensure that a fair punishment “catch up” with all traitors, war criminals and collaborators.”
