According to reports cited by Sky News, a senior member of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard hinted that it would consider striking Israel “if necessary.”

Iran International reported that Deputy Commander Ali Fadavi said: “Some consider a direct missile strike on Haifa to be the most practical course of action. We will not hesitate to carry out this task if and when it is necessary.”

“However, I am not the one who sets the mission,” he added.

Haifa is a port city in northern Israel.

Fadavi spoke at a student gathering at the University of Tehran mosque.

This is not the first time Fadavi has commented on the conflict.

Last week, he said Israel would face a new “shock wave” of resistance if its “atrocities” in Gaza did not stop.

The Resistance Front is a term often used by Iran to refer to armed groups in the region with which it is affiliated.
