On Monday, the Kremlin agreed with US President Joe Biden: a “new world order” is needed. But Russia says the United States cannot build it, Reuters and Agerpres reported.

In a conversation with the media, Peskov said that Biden meant an “American-centric” world, and there will be no such thing in the future.

The exchange of remarks illustrates very well, according to Reuters, the competition between Russia and the United States in the context of the wars in Ukraine and Gaza. Moscow is trying to attract developing countries to its side for its own version of the future, without American “hegemony”.

In a speech on Friday, Biden said the order that worked well for 50 years after World War II “kind of wears out” and Americans have the opportunity to do a lot “if we’re brave enough and trust ourselves enough.” to unite the world like never before.”

Peskov noted that, unlike many other cases, he agrees with Biden on the need for a new order, but without “the concentration of all the mechanisms of world leadership in the hands of one state.”

He emphasized that Russia does not consider the USA capable of such a construction.

“We disagree on this point, because the United States (…) regardless of what world order they are talking about, they mean the American-centric world order, that is, the world that revolves around the United States. . It won’t be like that again,” said the spokesman.

Putin dreams of a “new world order” alongside China

Russian President Vladimir Putin himself spoke several times about the “new world order” after the start of the war against Ukraine.

For example, last July he said that Russia was laying the foundations for a new world order, arguing that the West could not give the world its own model of the future.

“Both at the local and global level, the foundations and principles of a harmonious and more just, socially oriented and safe world order, alternative to the existing one, are being laid,” he said, speaking at the “Strong Ideas for a New Future” in Moscow.

In March of this year, this topic was raised during talks in Moscow between Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping, who is in Russia on an official visit.

“Changes are happening now that haven’t happened in 100 years. When we are together, we are the engine of these changes,” Xi told Putin after an extended meeting between the two delegations. “I agree,” replied Vladimir Putin.
