Gabriela Ruse became the first Romanian to reach the quarterfinals of the Transylvania Open after defeating Anna Bondar in straight sets 7-6(4), 6-2.

Gabriela Ruse defeated Anna Bondar in the 1/8 finals of the Transylvania Open

Gabriela Ruse advanced to the quarterfinals of the Transylvania Open on Thursday.

The player, ranked 188th in the WTA rankings, needed two sets to overtake Anna Bondar (116th WTA) at the end of the match, which lasted one hour and 51 minutes.

Gabriela Ruse led 3-0 at one point in the first set, but made an incredible comeback to win her first action in the tiebreak.

In the second set, the Romanian controlled the dispute and condemned her presence in the quarter, where she will meet Emiliano Arango (118 WTA).

Transylvania Open takes place from October 16 to 22 in Cluj-Napoca, it is played on closed hard, the tournament is part of the WTA 250 category, it has a total prize money of $259,303, and the title champion is Anna Blinkova.
