Eden Hazard says he didn’t want to play football just for the money

Eden stood out at Lille (50 goals and 53 assists in 194 games) and was then Chelsea’s best player (110 goals and 92 assists in 352 games).

Real Madrid paid €115 million to sign the Belgian in 2019, but he made just 76 appearances in four seasons at the Santiago Bernabeu, scoring just 7 goals and providing 12 assists.

After the disappointing termination of the contract with “Real”, Eden hung up his boots and explained the decision only a few days after the end of his career.

“You cannot explain everything in life. I am at peace with myself. I’m happy. I will not say that it was a difficult choice, but not easy.

I’ve been thinking about this for a while, so this helped. I have so many things to do outside of football that I could make a calm choice.

I was already thinking about hanging up my boots when I finished the national team. I just went through a difficult period at Real Madrid.

I always said I would stop as soon as I stopped enjoying myself on the pitch.

I didn’t want to go somewhere to play just for money. It was the best decision. I didn’t like practicing anymore and I didn’t play anymore. It was a simple decision” – Eden Hazardfor DH Les Sports, quoted by News.ro.

Eden Hazard had the largest market share in October 2018: €150 million.
