MEP Vlad Gheorghe from the UDR, one of the most active members of the party in social networks, accuses the leaders of the party of illegal actions when compiling the list of MEPs. Specifically, the People’s Deputy says that the first 5 positions were imposed, and only the rest – which do not have much chance – were voted on.

“Today I have an answer for everyone who asked me why I am not on the UDR list for the elections to the European Parliament. Simple answer: I couldn’t be on the list except by a vote of my peers. The difficult and painful answer is that I will never knowingly endorse an approach that contradicts the charter (Party Charter). I am a lawyer and I cannot participate or support a list – whoever is on that list – when it is very clear how the candidates for the elections to the European Parliament should be determined: by voting. Attention, all candidates, not 5-10 places, the last 20 and other variants of “gateways” and logical acrobatics without any legal value,” Gjorge wrote on Facebook.

Vlad Gheorghe draws the attention of the party that he cannot demand the removal of the “special ones” who are putting pressure on the budget of Romania, when in his own yard some are “equal” to others.

“We cannot tell Romanians to vote in large numbers, that their vote counts, when we hardly pretend to have internal democracy. We cannot save Romania from the old parties and their allies when we accept them as “ours”, he says.

Vlad Gheorghe says that he does not have this exit because he is no longer on the list, and lists his achievements in the European Parliament:

“The reality is that I took office as a Member of the European Parliament in November 2020 and in less than three years I made the voice of Romanians heard in the European Parliament – from truck drivers to environmental activists, I initiated the European Green Prosecutor – DNA Lisa at the EU level, we agreed to support Romania in Schengen and got a resolution voted for by the majority in the European Parliament, we brought colleagues from other European countries to see the disaster in Romania’s forests and help us save them, we put constant pressure on the authorities in the country to respect the law and the Romanians, I correctly and constantly informed the Romanians about what is happening in Bucharest and Brussels, I became a reliable source for the media in the country and in the EU, I worked for the activities and that the budget of the European Public Prosecutor’s Office and the European anti-corruption legislation were a priority, I initiated and supported the confiscation of assets and the restoration of Ukraine with Russian money, not Romanians and other European citizens.”

On Monday, the USR announced that it had completed its internal nomination process for the European Parliament elections and presented the final list of members it wants to send to the European Union legislature.

The official launch will take place on Friday, October 20, at the Council of the Alliance of European Liberals and Democrats (ALDE Europe), organized for the first time in Bucharest.

The list of USR will be opened by Elena Lasconi, Dan Barna, Vlad Voiculescu and Vlad Botos.

On September 15, the USR announced that its list for the European Parliament elections would be opened by them, approved by the party’s National Bureau on the proposal of President Katalin Drula.
