FCSB accuses FRF of lying in Darius Olaru case – Federation’s response

Before the match against Andorra, the FRF announced that Darius Olaru would not be in the squad due to health problems, and the decision was made by mutual consent.

A day after the match, Gigi Becali accused the selector of lying about Olaru’s injury, but after talking to Edi Iordenescu, he came back with an explanation and said he understood his explanation.

Meanwhile, the doctor of the national team, Claudio Stamatescu, offered an official reaction.

“He hit the ball badly at the end of practice on Friday, slightly sprained the medial collateral ligament in his knee. Nothing serious, but not to be ignored.

He had a normal training session on Saturday and we were going to get his feedback to make the best decision about his presence in the squad for the match against Andorra.

Given that during Saturday’s training session he had some reservations and still felt a bit of confusion, especially when striking the ball, and because Olaru said he did not feel 100%, in a context where a very aggressive style of play was known to the Andorrans, the decision was made to protect him so as not to risk serious injury,” Stamatescu told GSP.

Mihai Stoyka was not disappointed and asked a number of questions to the doctor of the national team through social networks.

“If Mr. Dr. Stamatescu was still focusing on the answers, what would he do to answer the next set of questions?

– Why didn’t you inform us on Friday night about what happened at training?

– If you were so busy on Friday night and didn’t have the time/willingness to even write to our doctor, why didn’t you do it on Saturday morning?

– Why didn’t you decide to remove him from the warehouse on Saturday morning?

– Why didn’t you give him to the club after the injury, no matter how “minor” it was?

– Did you research in any other way, outside of clinical consultation, or did you think that this was not the case?

– Why did he train on Saturday, risking worsening the alleged injury? If possible, without childish explanations (training without intensity, etc.)

– Why do you brag about “communication” when you didn’t think that you need to press a few keys to report that our player was injured 2 days ago, and we will learn from the press about your famous releases? But what kind of “communication” are we talking about when the selector says at the press conference that Olaru stepped wrongly, and you hit the ball badly? Or maybe he hit the ball incorrectly, made a wrong step…” – wrote an FCSB official on the social network.

In Thursday’s game against Belarus, Darius Olaru was a substitute and was brought on by coach Edi Iordenescu in the 77th minute.
