Hubert Gurkach (16th seed) made full use of the scoreboard weapon and made it to the final of the Shanghai Masters (ATP 1000). The Pole needed just one break in the set to defeat Sebastian Korda (26th seed), 6-3, 6-4.
Hubert Gurkach in the Shanghai Masters final
Hubert did what he does best: he built his game on his extremely strong serve, never dropping a game from release, and with the return game, it was enough to break in each set.
The Pole took the match into his comfort zone and beat Korda 6-3, 6-4 after a match that lasted one hour and 17 minutes.
Hubert had 14 aces and won 40 of 47 first serve points. He did not have to defend a single break point.
According to the idea, the fastest serve of the “giant” Hurbert was 224 km/h.
Having calmed down in the service games, the Pole turned his attention to the rematch, where two breaks (one per set) became decisive for determining the winner.
