Robbie Berman, an Israeli-American living in Tel Aviv, announced on Fox News this week that he was offering one million shekels ($250,000) to anyone who could help free the hostage, amid growing concern over the fate of dozens of kidnapped hostages. “Maybe it won’t change anything, maybe no one will give information, but if there is a 1% chance that it will save someone’s life, believe me, that will make me happy,” he told the French channel.

Robbie Berman admits that he is not a millionaire, but says that he has several contacts who helped him raise this important sum.

To increase his chances of success, he created an email address that anyone can access – [email protected] – and broadcast the campaign in Arabic on social media.

“I don’t think anyone is going to send me an email with an address that says, ‘That’s where the hostages are hidden,'” he says, also talking about the ideal scenario.

“I rather tell myself that in the chaos of the Israeli bombing in () Gaza, someone will see a hostage who is running, running away, and will offer to go to his house, to receive him. Then, when the Israeli army arrives, the person who helped the hostages will wave a white flag and tell the soldiers, “We have an Israeli hostage,” he told BFMTV.
