The Wales v Gibraltar friendly is scheduled for Wednesday 11th October at 9.45pm at Wrexham Racecourse and will be broadcast live on Digi Sport 2.
Wales and Gibraltar will meet in a friendly after taking advantage of the fact that they will not play until the end of the week in Euro 2024 qualifiers, having been divided into groups of five teams.
Wales are only 4th in Euro 2024 qualifying Group D with seven points from five games, three points behind top two Croatia (from four games) and Turkey, with a 2-2 win over Latvia in their last official game -0.
Wales’ next official match is on Sunday 15 October in Cardiff against Croatia, with Armenia (d) and Turkey (a) in their final two games in Group D.
Rob Page, the Wales manager, has called up a number of U21 players for the test match against Gibraltar, with six players in the squad who could make their senior international debuts, including Reading’s Charlie Savage (20), a Manchester United-bred midfielder and who is seen as the leader of the “dragons” in the future.
Elsewhere, Wales last played a senior international at Wrexham in March 2019, when Ben Woodburn scored the only goal in extra time in a 1-0 win against Trinidad and Tobago (the Racecourse Ground is the oldest stadium in the world to host the first football match in 1864).
Gibraltar are in the bottom 5th place in Group B of the Euro 2024 qualifiers, without a point or a goal scored after five matches, losing 0-5 to Greece in their last official match.
Gibraltar’s next official match is at home to Ireland on Monday 16 October, with France (d) and the Netherlands (a) in their final two Group B games.
The national team, led by Uruguayan Julio Cesar Ribas, has scored only two away goals in the last two years, in Norway and Bulgaria respectively.
The squad consists mainly of amateur and semi-amateur footballers who play in the national championship, one of the few professionals is Nicolas Charles Pozo (18 years old), registered with Cadiz, a La Liga team for which he did not make his debut.
Superbet offers odds of 1.80 on Total Goals Over 3.5: At least four goals scored in Wales vs Gibraltar.
