Alcaraz took two hours and 24 minutes to get past Evans (33 ATP), 7-6(1), 6-4.
The Brit led 4-1 in the first set but lost his serve in the seventh game before losing in the tie-break, 7-1.
Evans won first the rematch and the second set, but Alcaraz came back with two breaks to advance to the next stage of the competition.
Carlos Alcaraz (2 ATP) will play a duel in the quarters with Bulgarian Hryhor Dimitrov (19 ATP).
