Fiji completed the list of qualified teams for the quarter-finals of the Rugby World Cup, although they lost 24-23 against Portugal. Australia, two-time world champions, were instead eliminated from the group stage.

Fiji lost their match against Portugal (the Lusitanians’ first win at the Rugby World Cup) but managed to progress to the quarter-finals at the expense of Australia (Fiji got a defensive bonus point which secured their place ahead of Australia in Group C).
