City traffic, parking, bad weather: our cars face dangers during their lifetime that can take their toll bumps, scratches, collisions or gravel impacts Example. Here are our tips for protecting your body!

Protect your bumpers

The most effective solution for these parts is installation of adhesive film. Designed to resist minor bumps and scratches, it will cover the paint and prevent you from performing sooner or later an expensive trip to the bodybuilder. There are many clear adhesives on the market, so you can apply them yourself. But with their volumes and sometimes complex forms, shields make life difficult for DIY enthusiasts. We recommend contacting a professional for an average price of 500 to 700 euros costs and labor included. Much more affordable and easy to install, but not necessarily very aesthetic, rubber sticks can also be placed on the ends of shields (€15 per pair).

Protect your door

This is when your car is parked its door is most prone to scratches and bumps. And if the old models are equipped with protective strips, which are sometimes missing, the newest ones are not. In addition to the usual adhesive films (€20 for four doors with a pre-cut system), you can position of removable door foams (almost €80 per pair, Doordefender brand). Disadvantage: numerous manipulations that must be carried out before and after each parking lot. Also think about install self-adhesive or magnetic door stops (almost 3 euros per meter) on the side of the door to avoid impacts in tight spaces. In your garage, you can also glue the foam to the wall.

Protect your mirrors

Bigger and bigger, and therefore more and more open, retro does not like crowding. In particular, in some parking lots, where barriers and walls are sometimes very close. And here the transparent film radically prevents the appearance of scratches. But due to their shape and size, which require cutting with a cutter, application is not always easy. Then aerosol films turned out to be the best solution for rear-view mirrors : After the rest of the body and windows have been adequately protected, apply the elastomeric spray, following the instructions for use and in several coats (three or four for optimal results). Positive points: if necessary, the film is easily removed and you can personalize your car by choosing your favorite color. Expect €12 for a 400ml spray, enough to treat two rear-view mirrors.
