Luis Enrique says he is to blame for PSG’s defeat

Almiron (17), Bern (39), Longstaff (50) and Schar (90+1) scored for the hosts, and Lucas Hernandez (56) scored for PSG.

In his post-match conference, Luis Enrique named the culprit behind Wednesday night’s acrimonious defeat.

“First of all, I am responsible for the result. The first and last responsible. The whole match was played according to the same system.

There was no problem with the attitude of my players. Maybe you saw another match (not addressed to the reporter who asked him). The attitude was optimal.

The result is correct, but the estimate is overestimated. I am happy with what the players did, except for the last 30 meters (no attack). They did what I expected them to do.

I never talk to players immediately after matches. Do you know why? Because the emotions are still there and I prefer to wait until I calm down. We played two matches, we are in second place.

Congratulations to Newcastle, they certainly deserved the win but the result is a bit exaggerated and doesn’t reflect the difference between the two teams.

We obviously need to improve some things for the future” – Luis Enriquereports L’Equipe.
