The strike was carried out at night. The explosions can be heard in several videos circulating on Russian Telegram channels, allegedly filmed in Belgorod and published on Wednesday morning.

Sources in the SBU do not provide details about the extent of damage to the air defense system.

On Wednesday morning, Russia said its forces shot down 31 Ukrainian drones overnight over Belgorod, Bryansk and Kursk regions, Reuters reported.

The Governor of the Belgorod Region, Vyacheslav Gladkov, stated that three drones were destroyed over the city of Graivoron and civil infrastructure was damaged.

This is not the first SBU attack on the modern S-400 system, worth about 1.2 billion dollars.

It is reported that another such system was destroyed in Yevpatoria (Crimea) on September 14 during a joint operation of the SBU and the Navy of Ukraine.

On August 23, the Ukrainian military announced the destruction of another S-400 system near the village of Olenivka on Cape Tarkhankut in the Crimean Peninsula.
