Former international player Danuc Lupa, sentenced on Monday to 7 months in prison by firing squad, was pursued by the Romanian police on the condition that he did not surrender before the court. In the first reaction after the court decision, the former football player said that he left the country and will return on Saturday or Sunday.

The former football player’s data were published on the website of the Romanian police in the “Persons under surveillance” section.

Denuc Lupu told Fanatik that he is not in Romania and will return on Saturday or Sunday: “I am the only one of my generation who has stayed married to his first wife. And, unfortunately, for her, October 5 is her birthday. Therefore, I decided to return on Saturday or Sunday.”

It will be recalled that the former Romanian player was finally sentenced to 7 months in prison with execution after he was caught several times driving without a license.

Thus, the Court of Appeal of Bucharest upheld the decision of the first court, which in June sentenced Denutz Lupa to 7 months and 10 days in prison.

According to Ghandul, Lupu (56 years old) lost his driver’s license in 2001 after getting behind the wheel drunk.

The former footballer would try to get his driving license again several times, but failed the theory test each time. He was caught driving without a license several times, the last time in June 2022 he was stopped by the traffic police team, which filed criminal proceedings against him and then sent him to court.

In February 2023, the Cornet Court sentenced him to 7 months and 10 days in prison by firing squad, given that he had a previous 6-month suspended sentence, obtained in July 2020 at the Galati Court of Appeal, also for driving without a license.

Lupu, who has been caught driving without a license several times, explained that he was rushing to the hospital.
