Girona had a great start to the season in La Liga, but after six wins and a draw they suffered their first defeat at the hands of Real Madrid 3-0 in the eighth round.

Real overcame a setback against rivals Atletico Madrid two matches ago.

In just four days, Carlo Ancelotti’s wards beat Las Palmas and Girona and climbed to the top of the table.

After a superb first half, the visitors were already 2-0 up with goals from Josela in the 17th minute and Chuameni in the 21st minute.

Despite the fact that the hosts possessed the ball and had several scoring chances close to those of Real Madrid, in the second half the goal was also in their goal.

In the 71st minute, Madrid’s summer acquisition Jude Bellingham brilliantly completed the counterattack with a free kick in the penalty area.
