Does a day go by when we don’t hear about the creation of a new tax? To be honest, not really. For several months now, the authorities have been planning to create another one, this time for companies that are responsible for highway management. The latter would then aim to tax the latter’s excess profits, while the state also wants to ensure that highway construction projects are suspended. And that in favor of the railway network As Minister of Transport Clément Bohn explained. And this is difficult to convey to the most interested.
🗣 Tax on road companies? ➡️ “We need to invest massively in the ecological transition,” says Clément Bohn, according to whom one of the solutions is “to ask the most carbon-intensive modes of transport to finance investment in the train.” pic.twitter.com/PzTtij0COK

Strong reaction
The government plans to tax all road companies up to 4.6% ” on the functioning of the intercity transport infrastructure“. But the latter do not really agree with this and do not forget to report it. This is, for example, the case of Vinci and Eiffage, who reacted sharply. Having studied the cost of this event, they claim that it will amount to about 260 million euros. And this can be compensated by forcing road users to pay more, even if the state wants to prohibit it.
Provided legal remedies
But whatever happens, private companies have no intention of stopping there. And it is not for nothing that the latter explain that they are threatening take the case to court and put ” implement all methods of appeal against the government’s decision. So this case is very far from over, although it has been several months since companies expressed their displeasure with this measure, which will cost them dearly in the years to come.
