A new video of Russian Admiral Viktor Sokolov shows him giving an interview to a reporter about last week’s attack on Sevastopol in which he is believed to have been killed, providing the most convincing evidence yet that he is alive. According to CNN.
In a video posted on Telegram by Russia’s state news agency TASS on Wednesday, a reporter can be heard asking him: “Can you tell us in a few words what happened to calm the people of Sevastopol?”
Then Sokolov replies: “Nothing happened to us, life goes on. The Black Sea Fleet performs the tasks set before it by the command.”
Ukraine said on Monday that Sokolov was killed last week in an attack on the headquarters of the Black Sea Fleet in Sevastopol, Crimea, along with 33 other officers.
In the past two days, the Russian military has released two more videos of Sokolov, but neither has indicated when they were taken.
The Special Operations Forces of Ukraine announced on Tuesday that they were “clarifying information” regarding the death of Admiral Viktor Sokolov. This is the first reaction of Kyiv after Russia released a video showing that he is alive, reports “Ukrainian Pravda”.
“As you know, 34 officers were killed as a result of the missile attack on the headquarters of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation. Available sources claim that the commander of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation is among the dead. Many have not yet been identified due to mutilated bodies,” the SSO said in a press release on Tuesday afternoon.
We will remind, on Monday special operations in Kyiv announced that Sokolov was killed during a missile attack on the headquarters of the Black Sea Fleet of Russia, which happened last Friday.
