The Civil Society Gala Concert, a project of the Institute, awarded the winners of the competition last night, September 26, during an award ceremony held at the Romanian Athenaeum. The 2023 Civil Society Gala Grand Prix was awarded to Code for Romania Association for the Dopomoha – War TaskForce project, which aims to develop digital infrastructure to help Ukrainian refugees gain access to necessary information and services. The project was adopted by the Romanian government and UN agencies as the official information and aid management system in Romania.

Needs identified during project development ASSOCIATION Code for Romania, for the project Help – a military task force contains accurate and official information on the entry and stay of Ukrainian refugees in Romania, access to medical care for people with chronic diseases, management of aid for non-governmental organizations, access to education, access to psychological care, as well as urgent needs such as asylum. , food, clothing and transport.

Help – a military task force this included research, prototyping, technology development, testing and coordination of over 500 volunteers. 7 digital solutions are now operational and providing vital assistance to refugees, currently used by over 1.5 million people. The project has been adopted by the Romanian government and UN agencies as the official information and assistance management system in Romania, while numerous call centers and information offices use the information and tools provided through the ecosystem.

Help – a military task force also received the First Prize in the section Projects implemented with the involvement of volunteers and Special Award “Hope Far From Home”, provided by the United Nations Refugee Agency in Romania (UNHCR).

At the end of the year, GSC 2023 winners will be granted access to the Ashoka Residency Program. The Ashoka Residency Program is structured as a 3-month experience and aims to create a collaborative, open-source framework that will allow a greater number of people to access the resources and opportunities offered by the global Ashoka team.

238 public initiatives, including 182 projects, 23 programs and 33 social campaigns, implemented during 2021-2022they registered for the 21st edition of the Civic Gala. The projects were evaluated by 85 project implementation and evaluation specialists, researchers, sociologists, journalists, leaders and leaders of public opinion and the non-profit sector, as well as representatives of the private sector.

More than 750 guests attended the Gala 2023 civil society awards ceremony, including representatives of the Presidential Administration, the General Council of the Municipality of Bucharest and the Ilfov County Council, ministries, as well as representatives of Romanian embassies. Nikushor Dan – Mayor General of the Municipality of Bucharest and Raluka Tsurcan, Minister of Culture were also present at the celebration.
