If you regularly drive to work, you’ve probably noticed how fuel prices have skyrocketed in recent months. In fact, since the summer, diesel has gone up about 22 cents compared to 16 cents for gasoline. And it should continue for the coming months oil producing countries want to reduce their exports to maintain high margins. And this has a direct impact on the prices paid by customers, who are also hit hard by very high fuel taxes.
Faced with inflation, the PCF calls on the French to “invade the prefectures”: “How long do you think we will allow ourselves to be cheated like this? “, explains Fabien Roussel, national secretary of the party. “For me, it’s a matter of self-defense.” pic.twitter.com/Q9lSuI1kLC

A useless offer
If the state does not want to do anything about it, it asked distributors to make efforts and sell fuel at cost price. This means that they do not take margin and do not sell at the price at which they buy. Some brands such as Leclerc or Intermarché already do this. But what effect does it have on motorists? Well, the latter would hardly exist in reality. In any case, this is what the president of the French Union of the Petroleum Industry (Ufip) Olivier Gantois reveals. The latter recently spoke and expresses his opinion on this matter.
Low impact
For him “lThe distributors’ net profit, that is, the profit after they cover their costs, is about one cent per liter. However, the price of fuel rose by 15 kopecks per liter, or even more“. In addition, prices have already fallen mass distribution brands, which do not have a large margin anyway. As such, this operation will change little for motorists who will not benefit from the sharp reduction.
