Famed Italian Oscar-winning actress Sophia Loren, one of the most famous movie stars of the 20th century, underwent surgery after a fall at her home in Geneva, a Reuters spokesman said on Monday.
A spokesman told Reuters in an email that the 89-year-old Lauren’s surgery “went well and now she needs to rest and will be fine.”
He did not provide details but said the Italian media reports were correct.
Just four days after turning 89, Sophia Loren suffered a broken hip in a fall at her home in Geneva on Sunday, according to Peninsula Press.
The news was also announced by the restaurant that bears his name.
The famous actress had the official opening of the restaurant, which became the fourth under her name, in the Italian city of Bari on September 26, according to ABC News.
