Police officers from Ilfov participated on Sunday in an operation to arrest a driver suspected of committing a crime who was driving a car without license plates on DN 1, between Bucharest and Ploiesti.

The man did not stop at the signals of the policemen and continued driving even when the policemen used their weapons, shooting the tires of the car.

Finally, the car driven by the fugitive was stopped, and the man was pulled out of the car after the police broke one of the car’s windows.

The incident took place on Sunday morning in the area of ​​Cholpani commune.

Statement of the Ilfov police regarding the incident on DN1:

“On September 24, around 9:50 a.m., the Ilfov District Police Inspectorate was alerted by the Metropolitan Police that a person suspected of committing a crime was moving towards Prahova District, on DN1, in a car without license plates, in the area of ​​a shopping center in Bucharest.

Acting quickly, Ilfov police officers spotted a flagged car in the Čolpany area, and as the driver refused to stop at police signals, continuing on his way towards Prahov, Ilfov police officers continued to follow the car using the sound signals and lights of the special police car.

During the pursuit, in conditions where the driver refused to stop, the police used the provided weapon, shooting vertically and later at the tires of the pursued vehicle. At some point, the alleged criminal turned the car in the direction of Bucharest, the police managed to intercept and stop him in the 34 kilometer area.”

Because the driver refused to get out of the car, the police broke one of the windows. At that moment, shrapnel caused minor injuries to both the suspect and one of the police officers.

Express tests for the presence of alcohol or drugs in the driver’s body gave a negative result. The man was detained by the metropolitan police for further investigation.
