Nicolae Stanciu accuses fans from Kosovo of racism
After a more than 45-minute break, the Romania-Kosovo match resumed, which ended with a 2-0 victory for the tricolors.
UEFA fined the FRF 52,000 euros and decided that the next match of the “tricolors” will be played behind closed doors, but the Kosovo federation demanded much tougher sanctions.
In response, Nicolae Stanciu said that the Romanian national anthem was not played at the game in Kosovo because of racist chants in the stands.
“Last year at the event in June, when there were 4 matches, I did not manage to come from China. From my point of view, they went with us to every away game and we talked, at least the Kosovar striker Muriki understood that it’s not us, we can’t control what happens in the stands.
Like us in Kosovo, we could not hear the national anthem being sung. And we were made gypsies. We never, no matter how many times we were called gypsies or with the national team, we had to leave the field 30-40 times, but we never made a big scandal because of it.
And in the end, it was all over, we played the match and took the points. I told Muriki that what happens in the stands, as well as what happened at home, cannot be controlled,” Nicolae Stancu told Fanatik.
