The wealthy coastal town of Portofino will be the first place in Italy to name a street after former Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi. who died in Juneafter local authorities approved the proposal under an accelerated procedure, Reuters reports.

Normally in Italy it takes 10 years after death for someone to receive such an honor, but in this case an exception was made because Berlusconi was considered one of those “people who have particularly served the nation”, regional newspaper Il Secolo XIX reported.

The street will be renamed on October 14, a few weeks after the birthday of Berlusconi, who would have turned 87 on September 29.

“There will be a small ceremony agreed with the family and especially with local resident Piero Silvio (Berlusconi),” Portofino Mayor Matteo Viacava told Il Secolo XIX.

Pier Silvio Berlusconi, who runs the family’s television business MFE-MediaForEurope MFEB.MI, has a villa in the city.

A chosen pedestrian street that Berlusconi used to walk when visiting his own villa in the city, which is now owned by the fashion group Dolce & Gabbana.
