A week after Simona Halep was handed a four-year doping ban, Romania’s top player in the world rankings is defending her.

Sorana Kirstea considers Simona Halep innocent: “I don’t think she used doping deliberately”

Sorana Kirstea, who is ranked 25th in the WTA rankings after the US Open, spoke about the punishment Simona received, as well as the fear of taking more pills after the former world number one was found guilty of doping.

“I know Simona. I don’t think he ever knowingly doped. This is suspension for an innocent person.

Simona Halep’s former Romanian FED Cup team partner Sorana has given Serena Williams a brief characterization following the backlash on social media.
