This is the first time that Zelensky appears in person. Earlier, he appeared on video monitors in the General Assembly hall.

Russia’s transfer of “tens of thousands” of Ukrainian children to the territories occupied by it in Ukraine is “clear genocide”, accused the president of Ukraine at the UN on Tuesday, AFP reports.

“We are trying to bring these children home, but time is running out. What will happen to them? In Russia, they are taught to hate Ukraine, break all ties with their family. This is unequivocally genocide,” the president condemned under the gaze of Russia’s deputy ambassador to the UN, Dmitry Polyanskyi, who was present at the Russian table.

“World Summit for Peace”

The President of Ukraine also stated that his country is preparing a “world summit for peace”, to which he wants to invite all world leaders who oppose Russia’s “aggression” against Ukraine.

“In Hiroshima, Copenhagen and Jeddah, important discussions and exchanges of information regarding the implementation of the peace plan took place. And we are preparing a world summit for peace. I invite all of you – all who do not tolerate aggression – to prepare this summit together,” Zelensky said in his speech from the UN podium in New York.
