The 2023 Detroit Auto Show opens its doors from September 13 to 24 this year, and it’s an opportunity to discover new automotive products as well as the world of onboard technology. Google is using this large North American mass to announce its arrival new programs for users of its car services.

New applications on Android Automotive (built-in Google)

The new apps are also available for cars with the Android Automotive infotainment system, also known as “cars with built-in Google” (or “cars with built-in Google”) from the American giant. Really, Amazon Prime Video is now available to download on Google Play for select Renault, Polestar and Volvo models, with other manufacturers to follow.

Other apps are now compatible with in-car use, for example Vivaldi, a Chromium-based web browser, also deployed for download in the Google Play Store. Unlock your car with your smartphone

Google also announced the development of support for digital car key, which allows you to unlock, lock and start the car simply by using your phone. You can also share your car’s digital key with family and friends on Android and iOS.

Already available in several European countries, digital car key support is now available for select Hyundai, Genesis and Kia models in the US, Canada and Korea for drivers with compatible Pixel and Samsung devices such as the Pixel 7 Pro or Samsung Galaxy S23+. . Other car manufacturers and other compatible smartphones will be announced next year.
