Dan Barna said on Sunday in Iasi at a press conference that no one from the party leadership knew about the intention of deputy Cosette Chichirau to leave the EDR, he admitted that the problem of appointing a candidate from the ESR to the position of mayor of Iasi was simplified.

“A survey was held in Iasi, the competition was between Cosette Chichirou and Marius Bodea. Most likely, Marius Bodea will be the USR candidate, he is showing good results in the polls, I am very confident that he will become the mayor of Iași,” Dan Barna said.

For his part, Senator Marius Bodea said that only one member of USR Iasi announced his withdrawal from the party, along with Cosette Chichirou.

Regarding the resignation of deputy Chichiru, Bodya said that “if the party is based on one person, then this party has no future.”

MP Cosette Chichirou announced her departure from USR on September 4, she confirmed that “the reform movement of our generation must be continued and revitalized, and in USR the engine is a little stuck and no longer works”.
